Auxiliary Bishop of Communication & Protocol

The Bishop/ Overseer of Communication is appointed and dismissed by the Chief Presiding Prelate/International Presiding Bishop and ratified by The Bishop & Overseer Council. 

The responsibilities are as follows: 


  1. Supervise designated volunteers 

  2. Oversee timeliness and movement of communication and leadership responsiveness internationally 

  3. Participates, implements, and oversees communication programs that effectively describe and promote the organization, its beliefs, and products 

  4. Aid in the preparation of presentations and/or speeches geared toward the organization 

  5. Competent in giving advice on the strategy and policy of programs 

  6. Arrange and conduct programs to keep up contact between organization representatives and the public 

  7. Individual must operate with good judgment, and the ability to communicate thoughts clearly and simply which are essential in this position 

  8. Be able to research history and current events to the posture of COEGN 

  9. Must be able to articulate current affairs and current events with COEGN in mind 

  10. Keep an eye on public opinion about our organization or issues 

  11. Must monitor website for up to date and correct actions and activities. 

  12. Develop and implement communication strategies for the organization 

  13. Must monitor correspondence being sent to all/any leadership 

  14. Advise management on communication issues and strategies 

  15. Plan public relations programs including the preparation of cost budgets 

  16. Present arguments on behalf of an organization to government, other organizations, and special interest groups 

  17. Oversee production of visual (film or video) and audio electronic material, including managing websites 

  18. Working with the media and organizing publicity campaigns, preparing publications, crisis, and issues management 


 

The Bishop/Overseer of Protocol is appointed and dismissed by the Chief Presiding Prelate/International Presiding Bishop and The Bishop & Overseer Council.. 


The Bishop/Overseer of Protocol is responsible for areas of protocol and is responsible for moving the Fellowship in a matter of "decency and order" at all international meetings, conferences, workshops, consecrations, funerals, and worship services as the position deems necessary. The BISHOP/OVERSEER OF PROTOCOL is responsible for development and implementation of training, classes and development of these servants who are in the position of caring for the Episcopal servants of God. 


The Bishop/Overseer of Protocol is responsible for the following: 

  1. Establishing order as it relates to the Episcopal flow chart of responsibility and areas of concern 

  2. Establishing order for ceremonial, purposes (i.e. lineups, processions, conferences, consecrations etc.) 

  3. Collaborating with the Bishop/Overseer of Christian Education to formulate training materials and classes to train and implement classes concerning and relative to protocol 

  4. Preparing information for distribution and use to the Fellowship relative to protocol and procedures as overviewed and approved by the Bishop/Overseer of Christian Education 

  5. Calling in to question out of order procedures and processes that are ignored and disrupted by those in Episcopal authority 

  6. Assuring that the Executive Secretary and Bishop/Overseer of Christian Education are contacted for the proper presentation and approval of credentials to be presented 

  7. Assuring that the proper credentials are presented for the ceremonial purpose involved as expected and required by the office of the Chief Presiding Prelate/International Presiding Bishop and/or those offices of accountability and concern 

  8. Oversee and approve the assigning of individuals to services, ceremonies and procedural programs of worship, praise and celebration as needed under the operatives of protocol 

  9. Addressing those who are out of protocol procedural order 

  10. Establishing the Corps of Armor Bearers for greater understanding and discipline in the Fellowship 

  11. Keeping a record of incidents and enforcing the criteria set forth as relative to Protocol 

  12. Reporting to the 3rd Presiding Bishop incidents of ignorance of protocol and assessing need for further action 

  13. Keeping a record of actions of resolve relative to disregard of protocol 

  14. Dispatching of letters of concern and addressing of issues that will enhance the significance of protocol and procedure 

  15. Establishing the order of worship and service for said programs and ceremonies 

  16. Work with Regional Bishops to establish protocol procedures and understanding for proper handling of issues and affairs within their jurisdiction 

  17. Establishing a board of protocol officers to function on the national level 

  18. Establish a board of protocol officers to function on the state and local levels 

  19. Ensure that leadership of concern is aware, informed and trained to protocol procedures 

  20. Determining the proper and adequate dress and attire for proper ceremonial purposes, meetings, conferences, funerals, and travel as relegated by the Chief Presiding Prelate/International Presiding Bishop 

  21. Determining process and procedure for state funerals 

  22. Determining proper procedure for called and announced programs and ceremonies that mandate the order of the episcopacy 

  23. Establish a procedure for ceremonial pomp and circumstance to assure the proper atmosphere and excellence attributed to certain ceremonial affairs 

  24. Establish a relationship with the Bishop/Overseer of the College of Elders to Identify, recommend and involve ordained elders for involvement in the areas of protocol
