The Chief Presiding Prelate appoints and dismisses the Bishop or Overseer of Evangelism, with the ratification of the Council of Bishops. The Bishop or Overseer of Evangelism holds the responsibility of implementing a strategic plan to increase the number of believers in the body of Christ in the name of Jesus Christ for COEGN. This crucial role within the fellowship involves creating and managing ongoing programs, as well as establishing a network for global evangelization, equipping the saints, and fostering fellowship growth and development. The specific tasks of the Bishop or Overseer of Evangelism include:


  1. Establishing a board and team dedicated to evangelism for consistent outreach efforts

  2. Collaborating with state Bishops and Overseers who have a passion for evangelism to serve as representatives and implement the strategic plan

  3. Continuously staying updated and informed about new techniques and strategies to make the evangelism outreach more effective

  4. Recording and reporting the number of new converts in congregations and street ministries

  5. Creating a street ministry team for training purposes within the global network

  6. Requesting dedicated time during global gatherings to emphasize and actively engage with the unsaved

  7. Introducing new materials and strategies that will strengthen the overall evangelistic plan

  8. Presenting monthly reports to provide updates on the productivity of the evangelism efforts

  9. Providing accurate reporting and statistical information on the progress of evangelism to The Bishop & Overseer Council

  10. Collaborating with the Bishop or Overseer of Christian Education to integrate instructional classes during global gatherings

  11. Collaborating with State Directors of Christian Education to implement instructional classes at the state or provincial level

  12. Developing training kits and materials for use at the state and local levels

  13. Establishing a designated period, such as a global network evangelism Sunday, week, month, etc. for intensified outreach efforts

  14. Publishing and distributing informative materials on evangelistic techniques.


The Bishop or Overseer of Evangelism is also responsible for submitting a budget to The Bishop & Overseer Council. This budget will be reviewed and approved, taking into consideration the required level of support and exploring opportunities for revenue generation.
